| How Robinsong applied Rosgen's
Natural Channel Design Techniques to help shape
a community's future |
|
|
| Rosgen Natural Channel Design Techniques
are founded upon the study of natural streams and
how they maintain their health by creating for themselves
predictable channel patterns and geometry, depth
and slope, in response to flow rates, rock and pebble
size, and sediment load. These parameters combined
with soil properties and the land topology to determine
what types of meanders should be built into a stable,
healthy restored stream. This type of scientific
“makeover” of impaired streams is now
mandated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in
their stream mitigation guidance per a letter of
regulatory guidance in 2001. |
